The dynamic hilarious stars of Tamil Cinema: Mirchi Shiva, Yogi Babu and Karunakaran are coming together for the remake of the comedy classic 'Kasethan Kadavulada'. Priya Anand is playing the lead lady and Composer Kannan is scoring music for the movie. This remake is helmed by director R Kannan of Jayamkondaan and Ivan Thanthiran fame. Also, Kannan has tasted success in remaking famous films such as 'Jab We Met' to 'Kanden Kadhalai' and 'Delhi Belly' to 'Settai'.

Kannan is a filmmaker who is aware that 'Comedy is a serious business'. The team is currently shooting for ‘Kasethan Kadavulada’ at a bungalow in ECR, Chennai. The director has opened up about the film, "We have retained the essence of the film, and also the title. This one will be more like a tribute to the 1972 hit. Majority of the story is set inside a house and we’ve been shooting at this lavish bungalow on ECR for almost 20 days. We have about seven days of shoot pending — we’ll film a fight sequence between Shiva and Yogi Babu, choreographed by Stunt Silva. With that, it will be a wrap."

Kannan also added that the makers are planning for a theatrical release on Diwali for Kasethan Kadavulada. He further revealed that he has begun the post-production simultaneously. The lead characters in the film -Shiva, Yogi Babu and Karunakaran plan to steal money from the house. Production Designer Rajkumar has erected a set to showcase the hi-tech, multi-password-protected hideout where crores worth of jewellery and cash are kept safe by the lady of the house played by Oorvasi.

Yogi Babu has shared that he was initially scared and skeptical about reprising the role of legendary actor Thengai Srinivasan as there would be comparisons. But Kannan and Shiva were confident in him and insisted him to take up the challenge in Kasethan Kadavulada 2.0. Mirchi Siva is reprising the role of Ravichandran from the original. Siva said that Priya Anand has one of the toughest parts in the film as her character has to convince others that she’s not mentally deranged, even while her behaviour can be eccentric at times. Priya Anand is playing the role done by Lakshmi ma’am in the classic.

Karunakaran will play the role of Srikanth in the original. He said that the script of the new version is also a lot of fun, and the director has retained the essence while giving it a new-age twist. 'Kasethan Kadavulada 2.0' marks the 75th movie of Karunakaran. The movie's director told the media that the team has followed all the government-mandated rules for COVID. Also, director Kannan said that music director Kannan has done a great job in the film and has beautifully recreated the song 'Jambulingame Jadaadaraa'. "The original song was a huge hit upon its release and continues to be popular even today. So, we wanted to do the new version in such a way that it doesn’t distort the classic one." concluded the director.
