After Kokki, Karan plays the hero again in Karupasamy Kuthagaithaarar. He joins hands with his favorite music composer Dheena again.

Known for his racy rhythms, Dheena has come up with five songs that are predominantly rocking. Heavy instruments, fusion and influence of Classical raaga find place in right mix in the album. A song rendered by Hariharan and another by Carnatic vocalist OS. Arun are the major attractions in the album.

Yugabharathi has penned the lyrics of all the tracks, except one which is done by Vijay Sagar.

Naalu Gopura (Tippu, Chinnaponnu)

It is a mass number with a right mix of hip-hop and gana. The song heaps laurels about Karupasamy, the hero. An energetic number, Dheena has used right instruments. He creates the right energy on the listeners. A perfect foot-tapping number sure to appeal to the frontbenchers. Dheena deserves a pat for using instruments like Nadhaswaram which has been given a go-by in recent Tamil music.

Oorellam (Hariharan)

With Hariharan around, Dheena has come up with a smooth melody. Reminding one of a yesteryear Hindi song, the track has Indianess in it. It is misty cool. Hariharan's smooth voice flows into the ears very softly. A sad romantic song strikes the right chord thanks to Yugabharathi's catchy lyrics.

Uppu Kallu (Bombay Jayshree, Dheena)

A brisk song with catchy instrumentation. Dheena is one of the very few composers whose compositions are laced with energy and enthusiasm all through. Jayshree's rendition is enchanting and flawless. The raaga interludes deserve a special mention. Yugabharathi's choice of simple words adds more sheen to the song.

Sangam Vaithu (Dheena, Karthik, Sangeetha and Kavi)

Dheena strikes it big. He has come out with a catchy fusion of modern folk song with western acoustics and gana. The rap interludes and heavy instruments create a right environment for the listeners. Unfortunately the lyrics get immersed in the instruments at many places.

Kaadhal Enbadhu (Harish Raghavendra, OS. Arun, Malgudi Subha, Dheena)

OS seems a surprise choice for the song.  But after listening to this noted Classical singer render the song, there is no surprise, but only appreciation left. His voice sounds new on the track and provides a fresh feel. Glorifying romance, the song has catchy Tamil rap in between. Lyricist Vijay Sagar has penned this number.

Karuppan Varan (Shankar Mahadevan, Jaya Murthy, Karan)

For the finale there is the Ayyappa track, a mish-mash fusion of changing rhythms, frenzied ritualistic chanting of Lord Ayyappa's devotees. Dheena has used the Harivarasanam song, which is made popular by K J Yesudas.
