After the death of DMK patricarch Karunanidhi yesterday, the party members and people in general wanted a burial space for the leader in Chennai’s Marina. First the government refused, but then there was a hearing in the High court regarding the same.
Now, the Madras High Court has granted permission to bury the DMK leader Karunanidhi in Marina. After the verdict was announced, Stalin and Kanimozhi broke down amidst DMK cadres raising slogans.
Durai Murugan, the organising secretary of the DMK made the official announcement terming the court verdict to be a ‘victory’. The Madras High Court had also dismissed the petitions filed by Traffic Ramaswamy against the construction of memorials on Marina.
