Karti Chidambaram, son of P Chidambaram arrested

In a major news, Karti Chidambaram, the son of Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI this morning at the Chennai International Airport. The officials have taken Karti into custody pertaing to a money laundering case in which he was involved.

The Central Bureau of Investigation officials have stated that Karti is accused of receiving Rs.10 crore from INX Media to have the company get clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board of India (FIPB). It is also said that Karti used his influence to manipulate tax inspections against INX Media to hide tax violations.

The CBI had also conducted raids at Mr.Chidambaram’s residences and offices across four cities regarding this. The Chidambaram family have denied the allegations and accusations terming it as ‘political vendetta’.
