The Telugu release of "Meiyazhagan," retitled "Sathyam Sundaram," is gearing up for a grand release on September 28th, 2024. Directed by '96' fame C. Prem Kumar and produced by Jyotika and Suriya under 2D Entertainment, the film stars Karthi, Rajkiran, Sri Divya, and a talented ensemble cast.
During a promotional event in Telugu, Karthi was asked for his response on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Tirupati Laddoo prasadam. Instead of providing a direct answer, the actor chose to avoid the topic, stating, "We should not talk about Laddu now. It is a sensitive topic. Let us keep that topic aside."
This response, however, sparked angry reactions from Telugu fans and movie lovers. While Karthi's intention may have been to avoid fueling further controversy, his decision to remain silent on a sensitive issue concerning a prominent religious site has been met with disapproval. Many felt that Karthi's response came off as sarcastic, which did not sit well with movie lovers and fans, sparking further controversy.
Even Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed his displeasure, reacting strongly to the issue. He stated, “People are making fun of the Laddu. I saw a film function where someone said Laddu is a sensitive topic. Don’t you ever say that! Don’t you dare to make such remarks. I respect you as actors, but when it comes to Sanatana Dharma, you must think a hundred times before uttering a word.” His response amplified the intensity of the debate surrounding the incident, drawing attention from both the public and the media.
Despite the backlash, "Sathyam Sundaram" is poised to deliver a heartwarming experience, promising a compelling narrative set against the picturesque backdrop of Kumbakonam and Sivagangai. The film's music is composed by Govind Vasantha.
With the release date approaching, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact the film's reception among Telugu audiences.
