During a promotional event in Telugu, Karthi was asked for his response on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Tirupati Laddoo prasadam. Instead of providing a direct answer, the actor chose to avoid the topic, stating, "We should not talk about Laddu now. It is a sensitive topic. Let us keep that topic aside."

This response, however, sparked angry reactions from Telugu fans and movie lovers. I saw a film function where someone said Laddu is a sensitive topic. Don’t you ever say that! Don’t you dare to make such remarks. I respect you as actors, but when it comes to Sanatana Dharma, you must think a hundred times before uttering a word.” His response amplified the intensity of the debate surrounding the incident, drawing attention from both the public and the media.
