Over the years, there have been various campaigns demanding the release of one of the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, A.G. Perarivalan, on various social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
Perarivalan has been in prison for 29 years, and many people have been requesting his release due to the ill health of his parents who are above 70 years old, besides his own health issues in prison. Now, director Karthik Subbaraj has tweeted requesting the release of Perarivalan, and has quoted his mother's wait for 30 years to see her son getting released.
Karthik Subbaraj tweeted "It's 30 YEARS since Perarivalan was taken to Jail for a Crime he didn't commit...30 years of a mother's struggle for Justice still unanswered... It's high time he is released.. RELEASE PERARIVALAN ??#StandwithArputhamAmmal".
