Karthik Subbaraj's new movie 'Mercury' has caused a huge sensation as it is probably the second silent film in several decades after Kamal Haasan's 'Pesum Padam'. He had announced the release date as April 13th which is doubtful with the Kollywood strike continuing indefinitely.
Some sections of the media had reported that 'Mercury' will release as planned on April 13th as it will not fall under the category of a Tamil film. Karthik Subbaraj has clarified "To Clarify certain confusions, the 'Mercury' team including me the director, all the cast, crew and producers have been honestly supporting the TFPC strike going on and we have already decided to not release the Tamil version of our film in TN until the strike is over...We too like thousands of film industry workers are hoping for a fruitful solution to all our problems...Nandri...Karthick Subbaraj'.
'Mercury' a Santhosh Narayanan musical is produced by Stone Bench Productions and has Prabhu Deva, Ramya Nambesan and Indhuja in the lead roles. Karthik Subbaraj's next film after this is set to star Superstar Rajinikanth produced by Sun Pictures for which Anirudh has been signed on to provide the music.
