Karthik Subbaraj is a powerhouse director in Tamil cinema. He is gearing up for the release of 'Jigarthanda Double X' starring Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in lead roles. It is touted to be the successor of Karthik's 2014 blockbuster of the same name. The film's trailer created huge expectations among the audience.
We all know that Karthik Subbaraj is one of the biggest fanboys of Superstar Rajinikanth. Now, he has revealed that Jigarthanda Double X is inspired by Thalaivar's life. After the release of the trailer, fans thought that the plot revolves around the first black-skinned hero of Tamil cinema in 1975 and the particular character might be based on Rajinikanth.
Karthik Subbaraj confirmed this in a recent interview and said, "The factor 'Tamil Cinema Vin Muthal Karuppu hero' in Jigarthanda Double X is inspired by Superstar Rajinikanth. The story is set in 1975 because Superstar's debut film Apoorva Raagangal was released that year. That factor helped me with the screenplay and it comes at the story in important point."
Taking to social media today, Karthik Subbaraj unveiled an alternate poster of Jigarthanda Double X with Superstar Rajinikanth's face in Raghava Lawrence's role and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan face in SJ Suryah's role. He wrote that he had a dream to make this script with Superstar and Ulaganayagan if he had been born decades earlier. This is now going viral.
I kept Dreaming to my AD team that if i was born decades earlier i would have made... #JigarthandaDoubleX with Thalaivar & UlagaNayagan......
