Though actor Karthik had completed silver jubilee in filmdom and acted in about hundred films, he is playing a villain for the first time in Sivalingam IPS, a remake of Malayalam hit Bharathchandran IPS.

Speaking at the sets of the movie, Karthik says, 'I am thrilled at playing the villain. An actor has to perform any role and that's why I accepted to act in the movie'.

Asked how he landed up with offer,Karthik says, 'director Raj Kapoor approached me with the offer. I liked the storyline and also my role in the movie. Instantly I accepted the offer'.

Karthik has also said that acting as a villain is difficult. 'I am no where near to that in real life, you see,' he says laughing.

Karthik, who has launched Saranalayam, an organization to help the needy, has asked his fans to watch out for an important and happy announcement.
