Director Karthik Naren had made his debut with the hit thriller Dhruvangal 16 starring Rahman, and following this he had completed another multistarrer thriller Naragasooran, which is yet to be released.

While his last release was the action packed stylish entertainer Mafia starring Arun Vijay and Prasanna, Karthik Naren has been signed to direct Dhanush's 43rd movie which is produced by Sathyajyothi films.

Karthik Naren had an interaction with fans on Instagram, and during this session, he was asked by a netizen "When is Karthik Naren doing a sci-fi film in Tamil?" and the young director revealed that he's doing a sci-fi web series next. He had answered "As a web series miga viraivil". The director was also asked about his favourite contemporary filmmaker and Karthik replied Thiagarajan Kumararaja. Karthik Naren also said that Virumandi is his favourite Kamal Haasan movie.
