Karthi's milestone 25th film, 'Japan', is all set to hit the silver screens tomorrow as a Diwali special. The quirky heist drama is directed by Raju Murugan and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. Karthi met the media recently and expressed his gratitude for supporting him in his 20-year journey in the film industry.
Speaking at this event, actor Karthi said, “I still remember the comments you gave me every time after watching my films. Especially when Madras was released, you all suggested choosing and acting in such stories more. From the very beginning, I have been careful while selecting each story. I can say that I have been very careful after Madras. Working with each director has been a new experience. Each time there is an opportunity to reach a different audience.
When I worked as an assistant director, I knew only one line about the Ponniyin Selvan story. But now that I have played an important role in that magnum opus franchise. Then, I completed my 25th movie and the film's ceremony was graced and celebrated by you all. It has been a very happy journey.
Today, before we even meet someone, an assessment of their positives and negatives is available through the internet. Fortunately, I came before that period. My introduction was through you. You have brought me to people in the right way. I feel it every time I go out. I have always had your constant support. I wish that it continues.
I wanted to meet you all before the theatrical release of Japan. We visited every city as an elaborate promotional tour. Diwali releases have always been special for me. In that way, I am very happy that Japan is going to be a Diwali release as well. Working with director Raju Murugan was a new experience. Loved his writing. Ravivarman's visuals, GV Prakash's music are the biggest strengths of this film. Vagai Chandrasekhar and Sunil shared a lot with me while shooting together. So, I believe that this film will definitely be special for me.
If I have acted in a film without bringing out the real Karthi so far, then it is Japan. Before this, the villain character I played in 'Kashmora' was like that. But acting without revealing Karthi throughout the entire film was a huge challenge. Today, everyone likes that voice. Everyone is listening to that dialogue. I hope that it will definitely work out in the film. I will meet you in theatres when the film releases on Diwali."
