Karthi one of the leading heroes of Tamil cinema has struck a perfect balance of delivering commercial entertainers and thought provoking films. In recent times he played intense roles in 'Theeran Adhigaram Ondru' and 'Kaithi' and money spinning blockbuster hits 'Sulthan' and 'Viruman'.

Karthi's next release on September 30th is Mani Ratnam's epic multistarrer 'Ponniyin Selvan' aka 'PS-1' costarring Chiyaan Vikran, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Trisha among a host of others. His 'Sardar' directed by P.S. Mithran is hitting the screens on Diwali this year as well.

We broke the news earliest to you that Karthi has signed on to play the lead role in a new movie directed by Raju Murugan of 'Cuckoo' and 'Joker' fame. The film said to be titled 'Japan' is produced by Prince Pictures and Karthi plays a totally unexpected character.

It was earlier reported that Vijay Sethupathi was in consideration to star in a parallel lead role in 'Japan'. Now it is reported that popular Telugu hero Sunil is joining the cast to play the powerful role. The talented actor who was seen recently in a villainous role in 'Pushpa' debuted as a comedian and did several films with top heroes.

S.S. Rajamouli then gave Sunil his biggest break by casting him as the hero in his super hit 'Mariyadhai Ramanna' which was remade in Tamil as 'Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham' that had Santhanam as the hero. He is also a part of 'Pushpa 2' reprising his role from the original. 'Japan' is expected to go on floors in the next few days and the involvement of Sunil and other cast and crew members will be made official. Stay tuned.
