Karthi meets M.K. Stalin and petitions against controversial central government bill

The central government's proposed Cinematograph Amendment Bill has evoked a huge protest by stalwarts of Indian cinema that includes Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal Mehta, Vetri Maaran, Nandita Das, Shabana Azmi and Farhan Akhtar,

Thousands of filmmakers, actors and producers have signed petions against it citing that the centre's move to pass the bill is against the freedom of expression. The proposed bill empowers the ruling government to cancel the certification of the Central Board of Film Certifcation for any film.

Leading Tamil cinema hero Karthi alongwith producer Murali of Sri Thenandal Studios and actress Rohini met the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and handed over a petition against the Cinematograph Amendment Bill.

It is said that Stalin assured Karthi and others that his govenment will render full cooperation in opposing the bill.
