Karthi and Jayam Ravi are playing the pivotal characters of Vanthiythevan and Arunmozhi Varman in Mani Ratnam's upcoming epic multistarrer 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'. In the first part their character's friendship was budding and in the sequel it will develop into a much stronger bond. Since Vanthiyathevan eventually marries Kundavai the friends later become relatives too.

Meanwhile an interesting buzz is gaining momentum in Kollywood which is that Jayam Ravi and Karthi will be romancing the same young heroine in their next movies. Ravi will soon begin shooting for a new movie 'Genie' produced by Vels Films International with A.R. Rahman scoring the music. Bhuvanesh Arjunan the debutante director of the film has reportedly roped in young Tollywood beauty Krithi Shetty for the female lead.

Similarly it is now reported that Krithi in in talks to play Karthi's romantic interest in the new movie to be directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and produced by Studio Green. Earlier it was said that Bollywood star Gayatri Bhardwaj was on board but now it looks like there is change.

Krithi who won audiences hearts as the wily Vijay Sethupathi's innocent daughter in the blockbuster hit 'Uppenna' was recently seen in N. Linguswamy's 'Warriorr'. She was initially paired with Suriya in Bala's 'Vanangaan' and shot for almost a month. But the film was shelved and is now made with Arun Vijay and Roshini Prakash. Looks like the 20 year old is sure going to make waves in Kollywood just like she did in Tollywood.
