'Thambi' (Tamil), starring Karthi and his sister-in-law Jyothika as siblings, will be released in Telugu as 'Donga'. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film's First Look is out.

Why was the film not titled as 'Thammudu', which is what the word 'thambi' means? As per trade talk, this was deliberate. Karthi recently scored a big hit with 'Khaidi', which is the title of Megastar Chiranjeevi's all-time classic by the same name. For sentimental reasons, they have chosen 'Donga', which is also a Chiru title. 'Thammudu' wouldn't have been bad, given that it's a Pawan Kalyan title!

Coming to the director, Joseph is a talented filmmaker known for the family crime thriller 'Drishyam'. Govind Vasantha is scoring the music, R.D. Rajasekhar is handling the camera.

The film will hit the screens in December.
