Karthi is one of the very few heroes who hit it big in his very first movie 'Paruthi Veeran' directed by Ameer which catapulted him to the top league instantly. After that critical and commercial success he has acted in seventeen films with the latest being the upcoming 'Dev' directed by Rajath Ravishankar in which he is romancing Rakul Preet Singh.

The unique record that Karthi has created is that he has worked with 17 different directors in his 17 films so far. He has so far combined with directors Suseenthiran, Selvaraghavan, Linguswamy, Siva, Shankar Dayal, Suraj, M. Rajesh, Venkat Prabhu, Pa. Ranjith, M. Muthaiaya, Vamsi Padipally, Gokul, H. Vinod, Pandiraj and Mani Ratnam whom he assisted in 'Aayudha Ezhuthu'. This has rarely happened so far in Tamil cinema as heroes tend to work with at least one or two directors back to back.
