Karthi and Arvind Swamy’s "Meiyazhagan", which hit cinemas last Friday, has been receiving rave reviews from both critics and audiences. Directed by Premkumar, the film is a light emotional drama that tells the story of a man who rediscovers his lost self after an unexpected encounter with a stranger.
However, despite the overwhelming praise, some viewers noted that the film’s 3-hour runtime felt excessive, with parts of the second half dragging. In response, the makers have taken swift action by trimming 18 minutes from "Meiyazhagan", reducing the runtime to a more manageable 2 hours and 40 minutes. The new version will be screened in theatres today.
This news has quickly gone viral online, sparking conversations among fans. "Meiyazhagan" also features an impressive ensemble cast, including Rajkiran, Sri Divya, Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash, and Saran Shakthi. The film’s music is composed by Govind Vasantha, with Mahendiran Jayaraju handling cinematography and R. Govindraj in charge of editing.
