There had been a video spreading across social media platforms, where Karthi is seen speaking and heaping praises on New Justice Party founder AC Shanmugam, and as it has been trending as Karthi's campaigning for Shanmugam in the Lok Sabha elections, the actor has clarified on the same.

Shanmugam is contesting elections in Vellore constituency from the ADMK alliance, and in the recently trending video, Karthi is seen saying "He is someone who understands what we've come for and does more than we need. Medical needs, pension related queries or advises in construction, Shanmugam sir has always been our friend and well-wisher".

"Following MGR's ways, social service has been in him always, and that is why he had founded an educational institution, and has also helped film industry, and I wish his services to the society continues and he must win in everything he's a part of"says K arthi in the video. After rumours that Karthi is campaigning for Shanmugam, the actor clarified and dismissed the rumours with his tweet that read "There are queries about me campaigning in this election. Absolutely not. I will participate as a voter alone. Thanks".
