Karnataka: 100 acres to be earmarked for a monkey park

Karnataka might have a monkey park soon if everything goes well. The BS Yeddyurappa government is planning to allocate 100 acres in Shivmoga for the said park.
Monkeys captured from across the State will be housed in this sprawling park, which will be rich in fruit-bearing trees so that the monkeys can meet their consumption needs.
Why has the government taken this up? Monkeys have become a menace in many parts of the State, especially Bengaluru. From children to adults, everyone is attacked by them randomly. It's a real danger. Many residents of the capital city have expressed displeasure over stray monkeys royally screwing them up at will! Listening to their grievances, the BJP government has come up with the proposal.
Officials from the State will soon be visiting Himachal Pradesh, which has a monkey park already.
