Veteran R V Udayakumar seems to have delivered the goods right in his comeback movie Karka Kasadara.

With all newcomers in the lead, he has made a movie that is full of youthful mass elements.

The story is simple and uncomplicated.

The hero Rahul (Vikranth) comes to a lush green village on some research. There he has to contend with Anjali (Lakshmi Rai) and Parvathi (Diya).

The former is a city-bred girl who is on a visit to his brother's place. The brother Kasi Ayyanar (Jack Rasse) of course does not get along well with Rahul.

The whole story is about who gets to marry whom. Thrown into this simple story is the lovable antics of Ondipuli (Vadivelu), the village loud-mouth.

Debutant Vikranth, cousin of actor Vijay, who not only resembles him but also imitates his mannerisms, seems a welcome addition to Tamil filmdom.

He seems to have got off the blocks in a perfect way.

Lakshmi Rai, a former Miss Belgaum, who plays a modern role in the movie, oozes glamour all through, eventually winning the heart of Vikraanth.

One can pity the petite actress Dhiya, who has played a miniscule role in the movie. The highlight of the movie is however is the rib-tickling comedy of Vadivelu. He is at his best in the movie.

Udayakumar who had handled heavier themes in the past like Ejaman, Chinna Gounder and Ponnumani has taken a lighter subject with a village background in Karka Kasadara.

Having ideas and giving shape to it are two different facets. The twists and turns make it an engrossing fare - though the shades of 'Gilli' and 'Thirupachi' cannot be discounted.

Tuning in the hummable numbers and keeping track of the background score is music director Prayog.

On his comeback trail, the director gets the full-throttled support of a sprinkle of freshers.
