Bollywood senior actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set to welcome her first online streaming movie, ‘Jaane Jaan’, co-starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma, creating a buzz on social media. In an interview with The Indian Express this week, Kareena opened up about how her elder sister paved the way for her into the film fraternity.
She said that her journey was made easy as people recognized her as Karisma’s younger sibling. As growing up by hanging around on film sets led to opportunities to recognize Karisma’s influence, she recalled how initially growing up by heading to the sets meant opportunities knocked in recognizing Karisma’s influence. She further spoke of such prejudices as "light-eyed actresses won’t become stars".
Despite the initial challenges and legacy of the Kapoor family, Kareena revealed that Karisma pushed through and became a beloved figure of the 1990s. She attributed it to her sister’s dedication and trailblazing success, which allowed her to take an alternate path, starring in ‘Refugee’.
Karisma Kapoor entered the acting business in 1991, when she was just 17 years old with "Prem Qaidi," a superhit movie. She has also worked on other blockbusters like "Raja Hindustani" and "Dil Toh Pagal Hai. After a short break, she made her comeback through "Dangerous Ishhq" in 2012; however, lately, she has been opting for roles selectively.
After "Veere Di Wedding," Kareena's next few projects are lined up for Netflix’s "Jaane Jaan," Hansal Mehta's "The Buckingham Murders," and a Rhea Kapoor production titled "The Crew. The great influence of Karisma and her success served as an important catalyst for Kareena's journey in Bollywood.
