Back in 2019, filmmaker Karan Johar announced his higly ambitious period drama 'Takht'. The film was supposed to go on floors in early 2020 and release somewhere around the end of that year. As you can guess what happened next, the production was put on halt due to the pandemic and few weeks ago, some reports suggested that the film has been shelved.
However, Karan Johar has turned down these rumors and recently stated that 'Takht' has been delayed, not shelved. He shared that it is not practical to shoot a film which requires thousands of people on the set in these times. "No, I am going to make that movie right after Rocky Aur Rani. That film is a piece of my heart, it will not get away. It’s got 2 and a half years of my prep. We prepped for 2 and a half years, we were rearing to go," said Karan during a conversation with a news outlet.
Talkig about the reason for delay, Karan said, "....it was so vast, voluminous and on a large scale, that on a daily basis, it needed a thousand people on set. It was that kind of film." He went on to say that 'Takht' is his passion project and he would never let it go.
