During the inaugural episode of Zakir Khan's new show, ‘Aapka Apna Zakir’, Karan Johar spoke candidly about his personal and professional struggles. Reflecting on the difficulties his late father, Yash Johar, encountered in the film business, Karan revealed in an open talk both funny and emotional events from his life.
Karan discussed how his father battled when several of his movies flapped at the box office, which resulted in industry apathy. He expressed great remorse that his father wasn't around to see the success Dharma Productions finally attained.
Karan said he never felt sure about the success of his own movies when asked about his trust in them. Often worried about financial loss, he remembered how his father borrowed a lot of money to create *Dostana*, which turned out to be a hit. Many of his father's later films, meanwhile, failed. "I never felt as though my film would do miracles at the box office or that I had nailed it. Karan said, always terrified of losing money.
Karan also remembered the difficult times when failure affected the attitude of the industry. He described how his father was really offended when they were invited to the premiere but were given poor seating. "Failure is a bitter pill to eat," he remarked.
When considering Dharma Productions' success, Karan expressed regret that his father missed seeing the company grow. "I feel depressed that he wasn't here to see Dharma in its best phase," he remarked. I regret that most of all.
