Like most other businesses, the pandemic proved to be a curse for film industry as well. Many projects had to halt their productions while several had to hold on and wait for an appropriate time of release. One of these films was Ranveer Singh starrer sports drama '83'. As the world is opening up again, makers are planning to release the film and a marketing stretegy is also being developed.

Since the film in based on the exploits of Kapil Dev led team India in the 1983 World Cup, there are reports suggesting that Kapil Dev himself might join the cast of 83 for the promotion. However, since Kapil Dev isn't in his best health, his marketing campaign might be very limited. According to report in a news outlet, “Kapil Paaji went through a health issue in October 2020. He was advised to take it easy. The ’83 producers, Reliance Entertainment and Kabir Khan are not too sure of how much they can fall back on the real Kapil and the publicity may just have to be shouldered by the on-screen Kapil.”

Kapil himself have shown interest in being a part of the promotional campaign of the film.
