The OTT release of 'Kantara' has sparked a wave of disappointment. Netizens are frustrated that an inferior version of 'Varaha Roopam' has replaced the original version.
The replacement has been done by Amazon Prime Video over plagiarism allegations. 'Varaha Roopam' faced stiff opposition in court from a Kerala-based music band, which is now happy that Prime has done away with the version heard in theatres.
'Varaha Roopam', composed by Ajaneesh Lokanth for 'Kantara', has spawned emotional reactions over the weeks. By removing it on OTT, Prime Video has taken a risk. But it was inevitable. Retaining it would have been contempt of court.
The extreme disappointment shown by Netizens proves that the song has established a deep emotional connection with the viewers. "The new song has taken the zing out of the climax. The dumbed-down version doesn't feel as immersive as its old cousin. The 'Raaga Thodi' magic is missing. The court case filed by the Kerala band has really taken a toll on 'Kantara'," an observer said.
