Kantara is the biggest hit of 2022 among the small-budget films made. The film minted gold in all the languages. The big news we hear about this movie is the this blockbuster hit is going to have its part 2.
Hombale Films founder Vijay Kirgandur, in an interview, revealed that Rishab Shetty has already started working on the film. According to him Kantara 2 will a prequel which will explore the relationship between the villagers, the deity and the troubled king.
Vijay was quoted as stating, "He plans to start shooting in June, as a portion of the shoot requires the rainy season, and our intention is to give the film a pan-India release in April or May next year." He further revealed that the film will go on floors in June as Rishab wants to shoot during the monsoon.
Kantara was made on a budget of Rs 16 crore and grossed around Rs 400 crore at the worldwide box office. The success of this movie globally stunned Rishab Shetty as well as the producer, Hombale Films.
The film tells the story of a land acquisition problem in a tribal village that struck a chord across the nation. Directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, the film also had Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Promad Shetty, and Sapthami Gowda in pivotal roles.
