'Kantara' is a Kannada language mythological drama film produced by Hombale Films (KGF Makers). Rishab Shetty directed and played the lead role in the monster hit movie, which was dubbed into other Indian languages due to huge demand.

It is worth mentioning that Kantara, which was made on a budget of 16 crores, grossed around Rs 450 crore at the box office. Meanwhile, the second part of Kantara has been officially confirmed recently. According to sources, Rishab Shetty revealed that Kantara 2 will be a prequel story. It will be about the backstory of the folklore that features in part 1.

The maker added that the script work for Kantara 2 has been started. The story of Kantara is based on tribal folklore about the small gods - Panjurli and Guliga Daiva. The movie garnered high critical acclaim for the stunning portrayal of Bhoota Kola (ritual dance performance) and Kambala (traditional buffalo race of Karnataka; like Tamil Nadu's Jallikattu).
