Popular Kannada actor Puneeth Kumar who was hospitalized after suffering a massive heart attack passed away on Friday. He was 46. The actor suffered cardiac arrest while was working out in the gym today afternoon at around 12 p.m. He was soon rushed to the hospital. As his condition was serious, he was getting treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His condition worsened and breathed his last at around 2 p.m. The demise of the star has taken the entire South Indian film industry by shock as the actor was very recently seen promoting Shivarajkumar's Bajrangi 2. Even his last tweet in the morning was for the team wishing them good luck.
Puneeth is the son of legendary actors Rajkumar and Parvathamma. Fondly called as Appu and Powestar, Puneeth has acted in lead roles in over 29 Kannada films. Having started his acting career as a child artist, Puneeth had won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his performance in Bettada Hoovu in 1985. He won the Karnataka State Award for Best Child Artist for his performances in Chalisuva Modagalu and Yeradu Nakshatragalu. His most notable performances include Vasantha Geetha (1980), Bhagyavantha (1981), Chalisuva Modagalu (1982), Eradu Nakshatragalu (1983), Bhakta Prahaladha, Yarivanu and Bettada Hoovu (1985). Puneeth was last seen in Yuvarathnaa, directed by Santhosh Ananddram. He had recently wrapped shooting for Chethan Kumar's James, alongside Priya Anand. .
