Kannada netizens angry with 'RRR' makers, distributors

On Wednesday, the hashtag #BoycottRRRinKarnataka started trending on Twitter. Hundreds of Kannadigas took to the micro-blogging platform to take out their ire on the magnum opus. Reason? The makers and distributors of 'RRR' are not releasing the Kannada version in an adequate number of theatres in Karnataka. Only the Telugu version is predominantly showing up on Book My Show and PayTM, among other platforms.
Netizens are describing the same as an insult to Kannadigas. "The movie should be banned altogether for not caring about the tastes of the Kannada-speaking audiences," they are lamenting.
Usually, business decisions such as the number of screens on which a film is released, the number of screens/shows dedicated to a language are decided after factoring in demand from audiences. If the demand for the Telugu version far outweighs that for the Kannada version, distributors/exhibitors would want to go for the former. But it's not known whether such a thing has happened this time. It seems the 'Baahubali' movies had a very good release in Kannada.
