The year 2020 has been pretty bad for the Indian film industry mainly because of the coronavirus pandemic forcing a five-month lockdown and also the loss of important personalities such as Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput and others.

Now a new problem has risen like Tsunami in the Kannada film industry after popular director Indrajit Lankesh issued a statement that there is wide use of drugs by the majority of stars. He has even provided the names of 15 persons including top actors, directors and music directors who use drugs to the Narcotics Control Bureau.

It all started when a week back a small-time television actress Anikha D was arrested for drug peddling and it was found that she and her gang was in touch with top stars and were providing the substance to them whenever parties were held.

The revelations by Indrajit Lankesh has cost dearly to a young upcoming hero Pawan Shourya whose wedding has been canceled. The actor whose credits include 'Halu Thuppa', 'Goolihatti', 'Udumbaa' has lamented to the media that his parents had made an alliance with a girl and he was all set to marry in a few weeks.

But the parents of the girl who was supposed to marry Pawan Shourya afraid that he too might be a part of the drug-abusing stars have canceled the wedding. Industry insiders say that many big names will be in trouble once the NCB starts taking action and there is already unrest in Sandalwood fearing it.
