The court has granted Kannada actor Darshan bail in the high-profile Renukaswamy murder case. Alongside Darshan, seven others, including actress Pavithra Gowda, were also granted bail. Darshan, who had been in Parappana Jail for about six months, was previously on temporary bail for medical treatment.
The murder case gained widespread attention in Karnataka after Renukaswamy, reportedly a fan of Darshan, was found dead under gruesome circumstances. According to the police investigation, Renukaswamy had allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, prompting the violent incident.
Authorities arrested 15 people, including Darshan and Pavithra Gowda, on charges of severe assault leading to Renukaswamy’s death. The post-mortem report revealed that the victim endured brutal physical assault, including being subjected to electric shocks.
Despite several previous bail rejections, Darshan's legal team secured bail during the latest hearing before a bench led by Justice Vishwajeet Shetty. The granting of bail in such a high-profile and sensitive case has sparked public interest and intense media scrutiny across Karnataka.
