Kannada actor Darshan arrested over murder case

Popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested on Tuesday, June 11th, from his farmhouse in Mysuru for his alleged involvement in the murder of Renukaswamy. The arrest was made by the Kamakshipalya police, who are currently questioning Darshan at the Annapurneshwari police station in Bengaluru.
The investigation into Renukaswamy's death, which occurred on June 8th, led police to Darshan after one of the accused revealed his connection to the crime. Renukaswamy, a native of Chitradurga, was allegedly murdered after sending objectionable messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowda on social media. He was reportedly brought from Kamakshipalya to a location where he was killed. His body was discovered by locals near the Sumanahalli bridge the following day.Darshan's arrest follows the detention of ten other suspects in connection with the case. He is being transported to Kamakshipalya, where the original complaint was registered.
This is not the first time Darshan has faced legal trouble. In 2011, he was arrested for domestic violence following a complaint filed by his wife, Vijaya Lakshmi. She alleged that he had inflicted severe injuries on her, including tearing one of her ears and burning her with cigarettes. The incident sparked violent protests by Darshan's fans, leading to police intervention and calls from senior actors for a compromise. Vijaya Lakshmi later withdrew her complaint, claiming the injuries were due to a fall and it was a family matter.In 2016, his wife filed another complaint against him for objectionable behaviour.
In January 2023, Darshan, his wife, and their farmhouse manager were booked by the Karnataka forest department under the Wildlife Protection Act for allegedly keeping bar-headed geese at their farmhouse. n January 2024, Darshan was questioned by police for allegedly attending a party at a Bengaluru restobar past the 1 am deadline on New Year's Eve.
