Veteran Malayalam actress Sarada Nair, who is most recognised portraying the role of grandmother in ‘Kanmadam’, left for the heavenly abode on Tuesday, September 29. The 92 year old actress was reportedly under treatment for age-related ailments.

Sarada Nair’s role of bold and daring grandmother in the Mohanlal-Manju Warrier starrer critically acclaimed superhit movie ‘Pattabhishekam’ in 1998 was well received among the audience. In 1999, the actress was seen playing a grandmother in the Jayaram starrer movie 'Pattabhishekam' which was also a hit.

Taking to his social media handle, actor Mohanlal expressed grief over the passing of his co-star Sarada Nair. “Tribute to Sharda Amma (sic)," Mohanlal wrote.
