It is reported from Chennai that DMK's working president M.K. Stalin is seriously thinking about making his half-sister and party's Rajya Sabha M.P. as the party's deputy general secretary now that she had been given a clean chit by a CBI Court in New Delhi in the multi-crore 2G Spectrum scam.
Kanimozhi and party leader and former Union Telecom Minister A. Raja were among the 14 persons who were absolved by the Court which didn't find enough evidences against them. Clad in a saree in DMK coluors, Kanimozhi was present at the Court premises long before the Court proceedings resumed and was visibly moved and happy when Justice O.P. Saini uttered the verdict.
Kanimozhi is said to be very confident that she would be acquitted in the Court. She reportedly demanded a few months back that she be made the party's treasurer, a post held for many years by Stalin who took over as the party's working president early this year from his ailing father. Stalin distributed sweets at his residence in Chennai and celebrated his half-sister Kanimozhi's acquittal by the Court.
It may be recalled that no deputy general secretary has been appointed in place of deceased DMK leader Sargunapandian. It won't be a surprise if Kanimozhi is appointed as the new deputy general secretary now that her 'clean image' has got a huge boost!
