CWC winner Kani gives reasons why she does not wear Thali even though she is married

Kani aka Karthika Thiru is enjoying widespread fame after her stellar performance in the highly popular 'Cooku With Comali 2' on Vijay TV. She won the title and is busy with her Tamil renditions on YouTube and other media and she regularly is in touch with her fans on social media as well.

Kani in the latest video interaction has cleared the air as to why she does not wear the Thali (mangal sutra) which most married Indian women wear around their necks and never remove it as a mark of respect to their husbands.

Kani who made the video since many were questioning her on not wearing the sacred thread said that she believes that it is not part of the Tamil culture and only became a ritual in the middle. According to her Tamil women exchanged garlands with the men they loved and started living with them.

The eldest daughter of director Ahathian continued that she too accepted the Thali from her husband when they married and she values it and especially the yellow thread that he first tied around her neck is still treasured by her. But then the ritual of changing the thread is done by elders of the family and since it is not from her husband's hands she decided to do away with it.

Kani further added that she and director Thiru her husband were in love for eight long years and are married for twelve years and their life is filled with happiness. She pointed out that she has two daughters and these are enough to let society know that she is married and it is not necessary to add a symbol for that.

The outspoken celebrity also added that if she wanted to be a hypocrite she could easily wear a thread or chain on her neck in public and later discard it at home but she wants to remain honest to herself and others. Kani's video has been received well by her followers who are lauding her frank opinion and strong decision regarding the thali.
