In recent years, it has become easy for common people to get access to entertainment content from all around the world. Thus Hollywood has gained a huge market in India and Indian filmmakers have got foreign competition. Actress Kangana Ranaut believes that Hollywood has runined Indian cinema by creating a global monopoly. She also urged that we should discourage Hollywood films and promote regional Indian films.
Kangana wrote on her story, "Hollywood has destroyed other industries by creating a global monopoly. They are taking over our screens. We would rather see the dubbed version of Lion King or Jungle Book over dubbed version of a Malayalam film."
She further added, "We need to enjoy our own films first, be it Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu or Punjabi. We must keep our people and our industry our priority and discourage Hollywood films. This is the way to make an Atmanirbhar Bharat." Kangana herself is making a move towards regional industries with her biograohio film 'Thalaivi'.
