It seems like actress Kangana Ranaut can't manage to stay away from controversies for long. Currently, she is facing backlash for making an ignorant and downright stupid statement about India's freedom. Kangana sharing her unsolicited political views is nothing new but many think that this time she has gone too far.
During the recent Times Now Summit, the actress stated that India attained her real freedom in 2014 after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister and the freedom we got in 1947 was just "bheekh".
An FIR was filed against Kangana for this statement by Preethi Menon of the Aam Aadmi Party and BJP MP Varun Gandhi bashed her by stating, "Insulting the sacrifice of Mahatma Gandhi sometimes, respecting his killer sometimes, and now the disdain for the sacrifices of Mangal Pandey, Rani Laxmibai, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and lakhs of freedom fighters. Should I call this thinking madness or treason?" he tweeted. "It is an anti-national act and must be called out as such. To not do so would be a betrayal of all those who shed blood so that today we may stand tall and free as a nation."
