The 64th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony took place on Monday and with its 'In Memoriam' segment, it paid tribute to musicians like Stephen Sondheim and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins who passed away recently. However, much to the displeasure of Indians, the name of legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away earlier this year, was missing from this segment.
Actress Kangana Ranaut has expressed her disappointment over the same and called for a boycott of awards like Grammy and Oscars. The actress took to her Instagram stories to point out the hypocrisy of award shows which claim to be international but ignore icons like Lata Ji.
Kangana wrote, "We must take strong stands against any local awards who claim to be international and yet ignore and intentionally sideline legendary artists because of their race or ideologies... both Oscar and Grammy failed to give tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar ji... our media should totally boycott these biased local events who claim to be global awards."
On the work front, Kangana is currently busy hosting her reality web show 'Lock Upp' and she's awaiting the release of her films 'Dhaakad' and 'Tejas'.
