Following an FIR registered against Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel with sedition charges, the Mumbai Police have issued summons to the Bollywood actress and her sister.
A statement of the complainant, who is a Bollywood casting director, was recorded and Kangana been directed to come to the Bandra Police Station on October 26 and 27, five days after the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate ordered an FIR to be registered against the sisters on October 17. "Among the charges include Indian Penal Code Sec. 124-A (sedition), besides spreading communal hatred and falsehoods. The police have also recorded the statement of the complainant, Munawwarali Sahil A. Sayyed today in this connection," the complainant's lawyer reportedly informed a news agency.
The court ordered a thorough investigation by an expert after Sayyed accused Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel of defaming Bollywood, portraying the people from the film industry in a bad light with claims of nepotism, drug addiction, communal bias, in addition to creating a communal divide through her public statements and tweets on social media.
