The Kannada Film Directors Association award given annually to achievers in Kannada filmdom and one achiever from outside the state was stalled for eight years. In the leadership of President of the KANFIDA Dr V Nagendra Prasad it is taking shape again. Soon after the 10th Bengaluru International film Festival in Bengaluru and Mysuru, the directors association is coming with KANFIDA award in twenty plus categories.

With the team members Yogaraj Bhat, Vaidhyanathan, Nanjunda, Sunil Puranik, JG Krishna, Manjunath, Budhal Krishnamurthy, ABCD Shanthakumar and others, Dr V Nagendra Prasad also highlighted the 35 batches of promising directors evolving from KANFIDA training.

For the qualities required for a director Kannada film directors association set up a course for aspirant director 35 years ago. Now the 36th batch is also successfully organized. It is Rs.30000 fee for three months course. All sectors of the cinema industry give lectures and give practical knowledge. Dr Girish Kasaravalli, P Seshadri, Lingadevaru etc are part of this selection committee.

Another new concept decided by KANFIDA is a seminar on one film a month so that it could bring out making of the film to the budding film makers.
