Sivakarthikeyan apart from his stature as one of the most bankable stars in Kollywood has also made a name for himself as producer of films with substance. His 2018 movie 'Kanaa' directed by Arunraja Kamaraj and starring Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead not only became a super hit at the box office but also won high critical praise.

'Kanaa' had Aishwarya playing Koushi a economically backward girl who aspires to become a cricketer and succeeds with the help of a former player turned coach Nelson Dilipkumar played by Sivakarthikeyan. The screenplay also gave equal importance to convey the pain of farmers affected by the changing times.

'Kanaa' was snapped up by Chinese distributors and after dubbing it have released it today in a mammoth 10700 screens in the neighboring country. Chinese critics have unanimously praised the film and trade pundits are swearing that it will become a huge hit like Aamir Khan's 'Dangal'.
