Kamal Hassan announced at the time of the release of his magnum opus ‘Vishwaroopam’ that he would release the film in 'Direct To Home' broadcast when the film was facing huge crisis in Tamil Nadu and several other parts of the country. Distributors who bought the film were up in arms against his decision and vehemently opposed such act. This time however, Kamal looks to be doing the act, for the sequel of the film 'Vishwaroopam 2'.

Sources close to the actor director said plans are on to release the film simultaneously in DTH along with theatrical opening. If he cannot do this in India, he would like to see this happen at least in the US markets which is more conducive to new ideas and are not controlled by handful of people. It will be interesting to see if Kamal would be able to do that and if he could, how the division between theatrical and DTH revenues will turn out to be. The movie is fast progressing towards the final mixing and an announcement is on cards.
