Kamalini Mukherjee was everyone's sweetheart when she made her big debut into Tamil with Kamal Haasan's 'Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu'. She gathered some rave reviews for her short presence in the movie, but was more recognized as a Tollywood actress.
Her movies like ÂMeenakshiÂ, ÂGodavari and ÂStyle {all 2006 releases}were all big successes in Telugu.2007 was also a great year for the actress whose Tollywood films like ÂPellaindi KaaniÂ, ÂClassmates and ÂHappy Days were all big blockbuster hits.
Kamalini Mukherjee, a Bengali by birth, began her movie career in 2004 with Telugu movie ÂAnandam directed by Shekar Kammula. It was a big hit which fetched her Nandi award for her emotional performance in the movie. But her Hindi debut in , ÂPhir Milenge released in 2004 starring alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Salman Khan was a big flop.
Now after making waves in all other important languages of South India, Kamalini is finally into Mollywood. She has selected the big movie 'Kutyshranku' directed by renowned director Shaji N Karun to mark her entry into Mollywood. Superstar Mammootty appears in the title role along with her.
The film set in the early 60Âs is about a boat driver who runs a parcel service between Kodungaloor and Kollam, through the back waters of Kerala. The lone driver has three concubines in three different islands, on his daily route. The story is about his different types relationships with them. Each of them who is unaware about the presence of others, meet together for the first time only after the death of the protagonist, to identify his body.
Kamalini appears as Pemmena, one of the protagonistÂs secret relations, the daughter of the popular Chavittu Natakam Aasan. She is also the heroine of the dance drama in which Shranku, played by Mammootty is the hero.
In the sets of the movie at Alappuzha, Kamalini was able to easily adjust to the steps of ÂChavittu NatakamÂ, which she had rehearsed for quite some time with the masters, to present in the movie. Assistant director Ambika Rao was all around to teach the language and its varying slangÂs to Kamalini, which she picked up without much difficulty.
As the film is also based on the change in seasons, the movie will get completed only by October.
