Kamal assures his commitment for anti-Sterlite protests

With rampant protests ongoing for the closure of a copper smelting plant in Tuticorin, Makkal Needhi Maiam’s Kamal Haasan has voiced out his support for the cause. The news of government deciding to renew the license for the plant has come off as disappointing for the people. People have earlier complained of nausea, throat infection, breathing difficulties due to a gas leak from the plant in March 2013 following which the plant was allowed to run by the National Green Tribunal.
Kamal has stated that anti-sterlite people’s agitation needs the support of media. “My new status as a party leader need not be a disqualification or a deterent. I am still part of the Tamizh population. I am committed to this cause,” he stated. Kamal’s statements has gained the favour of the netizens.
