Tamil film 'Mersal', which is mired in a controversy over some of the "misleading dialogues" pooh-poohing GST and Digital India, has been supported by a wide section of the Tamil Nadu population. Even sections of Ajith's fans are campaigning against the "pressure from the ruling BJP" to remove the lines from the Diwali release.
Kamal Haasan, a wannabe politician, has opined against the censure. "Mersal was certified. Don't re-censor it. Counter-criticise with a logical response. Don't silence critics. India will shine when it speaks," he tweets. In less than one hour, this tweet got 21,000 likes. This is humongous.
While he is the first big star to support the film's freedom of expression, more and more Kollywoodians are expected to rally in Mersal's support.
The Vijay-starrer will release in Telugu as 'Adirindhi' on Oct 27. Sharrath Marar is making plans to release it as many as 400 screens in AP and TS.
