Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, State president of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, has said that it was totally unacceptable that actor Kamal Haasan would kick off his tour of the State from the birthplace of former president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
“Kalam symbolized all Indians irrespective of their caste, creed, language, race, etc.; as India’s most popular president, he is still owned by all and as such, we can’t accept Kamal’s decision to kick-start his tour of the State from Kalam’s birthplace,” she said.
Actor Kamal Haasan said some time back that he would soon be announcing the name of his political outfit. Kamal’s announcement assumes significance in the backdrop of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth announcing on 31st December his decision to float a political party and contest all the 234 Assembly seats in the State (as and when polls are held) so as to bring in place a ‘drastic change’ in the (governing) system.
Kamal’s tour is to commence on 21st February from the birthplace of Dr. Kalam which is the holy Ramswaram. Talking to newsmen in Madurai, Tamiliasi said that Kalam is someone who is still respected, admired and thought about by millions of Indians even long after his demise. “Kamal’s decision to kick-start his tour from Rameswaram is totally unacceptable,” she asserted.
