The calls to change the name of South Indian Artists Association should be changed as Tamil Nadu Artists Association (Tamil Nadu Nadigargal Sangam) got top mileage with Superstar Rajinikanth voicing his support for the name change this morning after casting his vote in the Nadigar Sangam Elections. In what may be seen as a straight opposite perspective, Rajinikanth`s long-time friend and industry colleague Kamal Haasan has called for a nationalistic approach among actors and members of the Sangam.
Addressing media persons after casting his vote in the elections held for key administrative posts of Nadigar Sangam Elections today, Kamal Haasan said that his wish is to see the South Indian Artists Association becoming Indian Artists Association.
“The SIAA has been found by my forefathers with a huge dream. There a Artists Association in North India and one in South India. My dream is to see South Indian Artists Association becoming the Indian Artists Association (Indhiya Nadigargal Sangam).”
Kamal also called for the unity amongst the members of the Sangam who have become two teams under Sarathkumar and Vishal contesting for various posts in the elections. “After elections everyone should become united. The existing differences are enough. It`s time for everyone to correct their own mistakes and I hope they will do it. The Nadigar Sangam building that has been demolished should be rebuilt with the same diversity and integrity.”
