Kamal Haasan is in the thick of a controversy after a recent interview by yesteryear Tamil actress Rekha.

The row is over Kamal's lip-lock with actress Rekha in his 1986 Tamil movie 'Punnagai Mannan'. Rekha, speaking to a YouTube channel, recently said that she was sixteen years old at the time of the film and that she was not informed that a lip-to-lip kiss would happen. She said that she wanted to refuse but assistant directors Vasanth and Suresh Krishna assured her that it would not be obscene but elevate the scene.

Rekha further alleged that legendary director K Balachander asked her to close her eyes before she and Kamal would commit suicide by falling off a waterfall in a crucial scene. According to her, Kamal kissed her on the lips without consent. She felt very uncomfortable about it.

Angry netizens are slamming the late Balachander, 'Indian 2' actor Kamal (who is now a politician) and the other men involved. Many social media users are demanding an apology from Kamal to Rekha.
