Tamil Nadu has been witnessing a severe surge in the cases of dengue fever and the government officials have been doing their best to contain the fatal disease. In one such attempt the government has been instructing the people to take Nilavembu Kashayam which is touted to be effective in the treatment.

Many people including some leading actors have been helping the public by making the medicine reach those affected.However, there have been reports of the Nilavembu causing troubles and serious side effects to those who use it for treatment in dengue.

However, Kamal Hassan has instructed people to not take the Nilavembu Kashayam until proper research is done on it. And until then people should carry on with other effective measures to control the spread of dengue. Noting that the medicine might induce side effects, Kamal asked his followers to stay put to the use of Nilavembu.
