Few weeks back, a Chennai girl named Shubashree fell on road after a banner fell on her, and a lorry which was coming behind ran over her, ultimately killing her on spot. This lead to widespread anger on social media and people poured their anger against the banner culture.

After this incident. a case was filed by police who sealed the printing press that designed the banner, and also arrested the lorry driver who drove the lorry that killed Shubhashree. However, the person who had placed the banner, an ADMK member Jayagopal was not arrested, and had been missing.

This was opposed by all political parties and court, and after search operations, Jayagopal was arrested. Speaking on this, Makkal Needhi Maiam party president and actor Kamal Haasan has said that though it is a relief that Jayagopal was arrested, it is a delayed justice. Shubashree's parents have also said that they are hopeful that the TN govt will serve justice.
